Sad to see this happen, but they've been losing advertisers and subscribers for the last few years.

It was just another digital mag. I stopped buying it in about 2005. Sorry though to see it go.

If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Popular Photography was very late to establish a true Internet presence. I sent my resume to them back around 2003, and I don't recall their response, but it was clear that they had no idea of what the Internet could be for their publication.

The magazine wandered a lot. I think the content was still good.

As far as digital, it's like a big unstoppable freight train.

The smartphone IS the camera of choice today for many people. I also was surprised by how many people are using their iPads for taking photos.

By the way, I was out shooting with a Kodak Retina IIC (Big C) this morning. :)

Sad to see this happen. I used to buy Pop Photo back when God was a boy in the '60s. The British equivalent, Amateur Photographer, is still going strong but I can tell that the editorial staff now lack legacy knowledge and an understanding of the fundamentals of the photo sciences. The answers to readers letters can sometimes be very naive.
