The Exakta 66

http://elekm.net/oddpix/exakta_66_v.jpg I just put up a review of the Exakta 66 - one of the more unusual medium format cameras to come out of the Ihagee company after the war. It's a massive camera (3 pounds, 10 ounces / 1.6 kilograms) that I plan to use soon. Might be a candidate for Lomography's...

Re: What was your first SLR?

@18%gray - you definitely need a model II! Those are very nice little cameras. Just lacks the convenience of the IIa's lever wind. I had a couple of these, but sold one of them. Maybe to someone on the nelsonfoto forums? I bought another a few years ago from a workmate who was strapped for cash. I g...

The Pentacon Electra

http://elekm.net/pages/images/electra_600.jpg Most of us know Pentacon for its series of 35mm SLRs and medium format cameras. Here's a camera that we don't see much here in the States. This was a boxy little thing that I picked up several years ago. I have a much longer writeup on my site . This is...

Re: What was your first SLR?

Also following on Dave's post, I remembering going to the Air Force Base Exchange and looking longingly at the Nikkormat FT3. On an Airman Basic salary, no way could I afford that. I did eventually buy into the Nikon system, but by then the FT3 was old hat. I bought an FT3 a few years ago. It is one...

April 12 is Film Photography Today

So says Lomography.com.

Making any plans to shoot film that day?

I think that I'll get my little Komaflex-S and feed it a roll of film. If you do take part, feel free to post your favorite shots from that day.

The Kodak Chevron x 2

http://elekm.net/oddpix/chevrons_700.jpg How did I end up with two Kodak Chevrons? As Mr. Monk would say, "Here's what happened ..." About a year ago, I thought it might be interesting to try a Kodak Chevron. This camera replaced the Medalist, which I sort of liked but didn't really like. I found t...

The Detrola KW

http://elekm.net/photos/detrola_kw/detrola_400.jpg I bought this 127 roll film camera about six or seven years ago. It since has been sold. Inside was a roll of Kodak Verichrome Pan. I processed it in D-76 and here are most of the photos. I think a couple were ruined by fog or damage to the film. I...

Re: Cameraphoneography

Those are impressive. Sad to say, my camera phone is more like a point & shoot.

However, here is a funny one. I call this "worst parking job ever."

Probably not ever, but it's how I described it.

ANR glass for scanning?

OK, real question here. I'm having trouble keeping my medium format negatives flat when scanning. I see a couple of eBay sellers offering Anti-Newton Ring glass.

Has anyone tried this? I'm using an older Epson, which has the older negative carriers.

Re: What was your first SLR?

My first SLR was a Cosmorex SE, which I learned decades later was a rebadged Zenit. I suppose that Berkeley (the importer) thought it sounded like Contarex. Who knows. I bought it around 1974 with my Christmas tips from my paper route, taking a bus with my brother to a small camera shop on Forbes Av...
