'Camera Around the World' project

Update (6/28): I am now locking the list. It is at 35 people, and I think that is as large as we want it. Even if people take just three weeks, we're still looking at nearly two years. Update (5/28): We have 34 people signed up. I will have some Word file that help to explain the project, and I'll b...

Are you infringing on Amazon.com's patent?

Amazon apparently has a patent on the position of studio lights. And if you light your subject in the manner illustrated in this Amateur Photographer article , you could be infringing on Amazon's patent and could be sued. After reading this, I can't understand why Amazon would care how people light ...

Re: I want to replace my monitor

These are good ideas. I have to confess that I've cheaped out when it came to monitor calibration. Now it's time to make a proper investment. Where did you buy Colormunki? I triedonce or twice to buy from a box store but never found anything. At the end of the day, we just want our final print to ma...

Re: Bronica S2A infinity focusing problem

Take a look at this page for instructions on how to check lens collimation. http://elekm.net/zeiss-ikon/repair/collimate/ It's always best to eliminate as many possibilities as you can. Have you sent a note to Rick Oleson? He's always been a very good guy. Plus, he really knows how to fix things, an...

Re: Bronica S2A infinity focusing problem

A couple of questions: 1) Have you checked the collimation of the lens? If the lens is set at infinity, is the image at the film plane also in focus? 2) Is it possible to adjust the angle of the mirror? I probably would first check the collimation of the lens. And then once you are sure that is corr...

I want to replace my monitor

When I moved, I did not bring my Sony Trinitron CRT monitor and opted for an LCD. However, the colors are a bit off, and it took me quite a while to calibrate it correctly for black and white. Viewing angle is a bit restricted. Any thoughts on which monitor will be a good choice for us photographers...

The Signet 35 rangefinder

http://elekm.net/oddpix/kodak_signet_35.jpg The Kodak Signet 35 is a cute little rangefinder with a couple of shortcomings. One is a shutter that is a bit delicate and often needs a lot of attention to coax back to life. The other is the rangefinder. On some cameras, you'll find that the rangefinde...
