Yes, that's the "Toaster" that was used for the Barry Goldwater photos. It's the "Film Toaster Dakota," and it's a bit pricey at $1,499 (35mm) or $1,999 (medium format). There's also a 4x5 adapter, and that's what was used for the Goldwater project. The belief is that digital sensors now have the ne...

Interesting 'developments' at 2019 PhotoPlus Expo

I spent a couple of days at the 2019 PhotoPlus Expo, and what I found interesting was a small increase in the renewed interest in film. Of all of the exhibitors, there were maybe five or six that were showing off film photography products. All of the booths were seeing a significant amount of traffi...

Oh yes - the seagulls really add to the photo. I also like the composition with the women in the photo.

Re: Two small scratches.

I tend to think that you might get some additional flare or perhaps some softness.

Re: 126 rangefinder Brady Bunch

I found the photos of the Minolta Autopak 800. It's rather homely - not Kodak 35 RF homely. It's boxy, and just a bit odd. The big fat knob near the top deck is the motor wind. The smaller knob near the base is to focus the camera (focus by knob - must have borrowed that from Voigtlander). minolta_a...

Re: Kodacolor X - BW processing.

Oh yeah, that's impressive. My own experience with Kodacolor-X goes back so far that it's not useful. I think that I was 10 or 11 when I last used it, and have had not encountered any since. If you have some Rodinal, give that a shot. However, you could end up with even more grain. Maybe that wouldn...

Re: Thornton Pickard shutter - new curtains.

Wow - Excellent job. I'm truly impressed.

I have a very old Zeiss Ikon Miroflex with shutter curtains that are almost transparent. I've looked at disassembly, and it seems very difficult.
