Re: Postcard circle event.

I got back from a brief trip to discover that I received mine from Phil yesterday -- looks good!

Re: Postcard circle event.

Alex's card finally showed up today, Philip's some time last week. My card to Alex went out a bit late (Nov 30) but the one to Philip a bit better in early December. Hopefully both will arrive soon if they haven't already.

Mine went into the mail on Saturday, but the snowstorm we're living through right now may slow its departure from the area somewhat.

Re: Digital Negatives

Just looked at Mike Ware's notes. The man certainly knows what he's talking about, so I'm sure his method works. Interesting that he finds that an overall gamma correction (as opposed to calculating a specific curve from what amounts to simple densitometry) works for the purpose well enough, after h...

Re: Digital Negatives

See my post in your other thread for my answer to most of these questions. As to "nano-dots", no, the resolution of modern inkjet printers is sufficiently fine that once passed through the analog process of your choice, the dots are not really visible any longer. That said, I can see how applying th...

Re: My grandpa's pictures

Hoo boy, are there a load of answers to those questions. The basic idea is that you need to determine a curve that translates the sensitivity curve of your original process to that of the printing process of choice. There are several different ways to do this. The way I use is a simple approach that...
