Re: Watches.

That is an excellent photo and one that you might see in an ad, although lately advertising has been using a lot of black backgrounds so that you only see the watch and nothing else.

Good use of the softboxes. I like using them because you can really control things, such as highlights and shadows.

Re: Homemade camera toys

It's very interesting how hobbyists are doing really creative things with photography. This is one of the positive sides of the Internet, allowing people to share ideas and creations.

"Mr. Garden," how did you make those brass knobs for your camera?

Yeah - they definitely messed up on the last name.

Re: On This Day, Sept 4, 1888

I read a story once that said Eastman selected the word, "Kodak," because it could only be pronounced one way and couldn't be confused with anything else.

Oh right - this is the modular SLR. It has some new features and some older features. It certainly is an interesting camera.

Re: Dry plate.

Eugen, would you recommend a red or orange filter to lighten the skin tones?

I've shot with filters but I've not used them for portrait work.

Re: Agfa Automatic 66 -repairing the meter

Here's a description of the meter assembly from the Camera wiki: The film speed (set on the meter, in the top housing) and aperture controls both adjust variable resistances that bias the meter output. In the user's manual, the meter's linkage to the shutter is compared to a cylinder air pump, with ...

Re: New feature: Forum digest e-mailed to you

For testing, I have mine delivered daily at 7 a.m. I've gone back and forth on the Styled with or without tables. I've come around on the tables, which I didn't like at first. When viewed on a computer (not a smartphone), I like the tables. When viewing solely on a smartphone, I tend to favor the St...

Re: Throwback Thursday

DSC08929.jpg A couple of years ago, on a Sunday morning, I took a detour on my drive home and walked along the canal, which makes its way into Princeton and then no one cares about where it goes south of that. For this trip, I had a couple of cameras, include the Sony A7 II fitted with one of my fa...

Great job - I'm sure that he'll be really pleased to learn that. Do you still have his e-mail address? If not, I can PM you with it.

He said Claudia is still doing well and turns 91 next Saturday (Aug. 31, 2019).

Re: A summer without sun - Agfa Super Isolette.

In the world of folding cameras, the Super Isolette sometimes is forgotten. We often hear about the Isolette III. The Super Isolette took the design one step farther and made for an excellent camera. The Solinar is always a good performer.

I also think that the phone booth photo is very cool.
