Re: Wide Angles, 10mm or less?

I had the Voigtlander 15mm (I think that was the focal length), but apparently I sold it. I haven't seen it in years, so I guess I sold it. I have the Zeiss Ikon Contarex Hologon, which has a no-focus fixed-aperture f/8 15mm Hologon lens. I think depth of field is 18 inches to infinity. It's a prett...

Re: Macro lens advice

If you don't mind manual focus, you can always look for a lens mount adapter to allow the use of the Rollei QBM lenses. Look for the Carl Zeiss 60mm Makro-Planar. This lens can be used with extension tubes or with bellows. This lens is also available in the Contax/Yashica mount, although I don't kno...

Re: Anyone using old lenses?

I shoot almost entirely with older lenses on digital. If you get a chance, pick up the Meyer-Optik Trioplan. I converted one of these lenses to the Sony E-mount. It's a very cool lens. I did a writeup on it. My next project is a Meyer Domiplan (from a Pemtacon Electra) which has very swirly bokeh. H...

AP ending its relationship with Canon, picks Sony

This is rather interesting news. The Associated press announced today that it is moving away from Canon as its supplier of cameras and will outfit all of its staff photographers (and videographers) with Sony products. This is a big development for Sony. http://photographytoday.net/?q=news/associated...

Re: Rolleicord Va

You never have to make excuses for a Xenar. While the Rolleicord never offered a Tessar or Planar, the Xenar certainly was the equivalent of the Tessar (design and performance). Those photos have plenty of sharpness to them. My first Rolleiflex Automat had a Xenar - great lens. You can replace the R...

Re: M2 Test Rolls

HP5+ - ugh for me. I've never successfully shot a satisfying roll with this film. The blacks always come out like mud. I've never been able to use the film correctly. I don't know why.

That would be the Nokton, right? I think this was supposed to be very close to the Sonnar - the original design was.

Corel Draw Suite - monthly subscription

I don't do vector illustrations, but Corel is moving its CorelDRAW Graphics Suite to the cloud and making it a monthly subscription. At the moment, this will sell alongside the installed non-cloud version. I don't know if Corel plans to offer both or eventually do away with the standalone version. P...

Oh, yeah, these are good. Nice compositions. The colors really pop in those photos. Which lens - Summicron?

Re: CoronaVirus Pandemonium

Yeah, things are definitely weird. In New Jersey, we have this lockdown, but it seems like many people are ignoring it. I usually go to the office one day a week, and there still seems to be a lot of people driving around. I had to go to Walmart, and it's one of those Super Walmarts. The line went a...

Something fun for today - photography trivia

I subscribe to this trivia thing, and this is today's question:

When was the first color photography taken?

By the way, I got it wrong.
