New Nikkor PC 19mm and 70-200mm zoom arrive for full-frame bodies

Nikon has added two pro-level lenses that will cater to two different types of photography.

The AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR and PC 19mm f/4E ED are intended for Nikon’s full-frame FX cameras, although they also can be used with the company’s APS-C bodies. Both are Nikkor lenses, which signify that they are made to stand up to the physical demands of professional photographers.

Both lenses are priced accordingly and are expected to be available in November 2016.

New Y1 M1 hopes to find its place in photography

While the established Japanese companies garner the most attention in the digital camera arena, a little known Chinese company hopes to make a name for itself.

Yi Technology, also known as Xiaoyi in China, releases the Y1 M1 digital camera today (Oct. 17, 2016).

If you don’t know much about this camera, it’s OK. You aren’t alone.

The Y1 M1 is a Micro Four Thirds camera, with strong specifications.

Fujifilm has microsite for upcoming GFX digital medium-format system

For those interested in the upcoming Fujifilm GFX digital medium-format camera, Fujifilm has created a microsite (http://fujifilm-x.com/en/gfx/) for the system.

The Fujifilm GFX 50S will use a 51.4-MP G Format CMOS sensor that is 43.8 x 32.9mm. The photographer will be able to switch to different aspect ratios, including a panoramic 6:17. It is a mirrorless camera.

Sigma advises turning off certain functions when using its lenses on Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

Sigma has issued an advisory about the use of its lenses on the new Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

Sigma says that while its lenses for the Canon EOS mount fit the camera, manual override (MO) is unavailable. Full-time manual is available.

Further, Sigma suggests disabling lens correction on all Canon digital EOS bodies that have that option, including the 5D Mark IV.

Zeiss to make ExoLens compatible with Apple iPhone 7 models

Zeiss announced via Instagram on Friday that it would make its ExoLens accessory optics available for the Apple iPhone 7.

As Zeiss explains below, the existing lineup will be renamed ExoLens PRO. The ExoLens lineup includes three optics: Telephoto, wide angle and a macro lens.

The brackets that are now available fit all iPhone 6 models.

Zeiss said different brackets compatible with iPhone 7 models will be produced.

Sony continues to refine its RX100, its high-end point and shoot.

The latest model, the RX100 V, arrives more than a year after the June 2015 release of the IV.

What’s different?

The RX100 V adds high-speed still photography and several video features.

The RX100 continues to use a one-inch 20.1-MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor, which it now is calling “1.0-type.” The ISO range is 125-12,800, which can be extended to 80-25,600.

Panasonic gives Lumix G85 several important upgrades over predecessor

Panasonic created a very solid camera with the Lumix DMC-G7, and in announcing the G85 successor, it didn’t try to recreate the wheel.

The improvements in the Lumix DMC-G85 are noteworthy and improve the usability in several important areas.

Like the G7, the G85 has a 16.0-MP Live MOS sensor in the Micro Four Thirds format with an ISO range of 200-25,600. It can be extended lower to 100.
