One of the nice things about a so-called bridge camera is that many of the recent offerings are fitted with superzooms that offer very long telephoto focal lengths.

The Tamron f/3.5-6.3 18-400mm Di II VC HLD brings the bridge camera concept to Canon and Nikon digital SLRs with APS-C sensors. This translates to a full-frame equivalent range of 27-600mm for Nikon cameras and 28.8-640mm for Canon bodies.

Tamron has updated two of its zooms that sit at opposite ends of the optical spectrum.

The 70-200mm zoom has several new features, while the 10-24mm lens also gets a makeover.

Visually, both lenses align with Tamron’s new design that includes the gold ring near the lens mount that it began using last year with its SP series lenses. The 11-24mm is not an SP lens, but still gets the gold (ring).

For some photographers, the telephoto zoom falls short, and that’s when you want to reach for something much longer.

Nearly three years ago, Tamron introduced its SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC (A011) USD ultra-telephoto zoom. This month, Tamron announced an updated model – the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 (A022).

For those who hate to switch lenses, there is a new offering for you. It's the Tamron SP 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC, which replaces a similarly named model (18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical) that is 10 years old. Tamron said the first lens was one of its best sellers.
