Fujifilm’s X-series owners now have another lens choice with the addition of a compact 23mm wide-angle optic.

With the X-series APS-C sensor crop of 1.5x, the Fujinon XF23mmF2 R WR is a full-frame equivalent 34.5mm – or roughly 35mm, the standard wide-angle lens for many years in the film era. To be sure, this lens is compatible with all X-series bodies.

For Canon EOS film and digital photographers, there's a new 50mm lens in town - the compact EF 50mm f/1.8 STM.

It's compatible with full-frame, as well as APS-C sensors (80mm equivalent).

It has a metal lens mount, and that probably is the only significant use of metal in the lens, which weighs just 5.7 ounces (160 grams).

The lenses comprises six elements in five groups. and its aperture is formed by seven blades. The lens takes 49mm thread filters.

A couple of years ago, Carl Zeiss AG unveiled new digital-only lenses and along with them some unfamiliar product names: Touit, Loxia and now Batis with the latter being two new lenses for mirrorless full-frame Sony Alpha cameras.

Zeiss said the two lenses – the f/2 25mm and f/1.8 85mm – are expected to go on sale in July.
