Micron Technology said it would be willing to sell the Lexar unit. It didn't say when it would shutter the division.

Micron Technology said it is getting out of the memory card business, which means that Lexar memory cards will no longer be made.

The Lexar line also includes USB flash drives, memory card readers and storage drives for retail and OEM customers.

Micron didn’t issue a press release. Instead, it snuck the Lexar closure into a blog post at https://www.micron.com/about/blogs/2017/june/micron-discontinuing-lexar-removable-storage-retail-business.

Micron said it would consider offers for the Lexar division. The company will continue to provide support for these products in the short term.

Micron also did not say how many jobs would be lost or how much would be saved by dumping the Lexar line.

Micron will release its third-quarter report on June 29, and financial impact information should be included in its look-ahead forecast.
