Fujifilm has added a sixth lens for its digital GFX medium format system. The Fujinon f/2.8 GF45mm R WR, which provides for a 36mm field of view when thought of in terms of full-frame 35mm, weighs about 17 ounces (490 grams).

Fujifilm says the GF45mm is a good choice for street photography and documentary work.

The lens has 11 elements in eight groups and includes one aspherical element and two extra-low dispersion (ED) lenses. There are nine aperture blades.

It is both weather- and dust-resistant can be used in temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C).

Like other lenses in this series, this is a G-mount optic and is intended for use with the mirrorless GFX 50S body.

The Fujinon f/2.8 GF45mm R WR will be available in November 2017 for US$1,699.95 and is about 3.3 x 3.5 inches (84 x 88mm) and weighs 1.1 pounds (490 grams).

Fujifilm also announced that it is working on the next two lenses for the GFX system – the f/4.0 GF250mm R LM OIS WR telephoto and a high-performance GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter. As its name implies, this will provide 1.4X magnification and can be used with the GF250mm lens.
